HENRY O WATSON - THE COMEDY PROFESSOR

Biography:

Henry O. Watson has followed a long and winding path through life's opportunities. He was born Henry Ogle Watson in Memphis Tennessee on October 11, 1946. The name Ogle came from Doctor Evelyn Ogle as a result of him being her first delivery as a doctor.

Education:

He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in May of 1965, at which time he moved to Los Angeles to attend Los Angeles City College. Upon completing his first year, Henry was drafted into the United States Army and subsequently was sent for a one year tour of duty with the First Infantry Division in Viet Nam. Upon his return, Henry re-entered and graduated from Los Angeles City College with an Associate in Arts degree in Accounting.

Work Experience:

During the years between 1969 and 1986 Henry worked for a while in radio as a segment producer, then as a limousine driver. Eventually he founded Special Limousine Service - an elite company whose clientelle consisted of many of the "who's who" of the film, television and music industries. This put him in direct contact with people from all walks of life and was a major contributing factor to him deciding to start a career in acting and stand-up comedy.

In 1982, he started his stand-up comedy career in clubs around the Los Angeles area. He combined his comedy with acting and became a member of the Creative Actors Workshop under the instruction of Scott Arthur Allen and Katherine Daly for a period of about five years.

Life Experience:

After five years of growth and development, he decided to branch out and travel. His road trips took him all over the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and as far away as England. In recent years Henry has travelled the world to many ports of call as a performer on various cruise lines, such as Princess, Royal Caribbean, Radisson and the Big Red Boat.

In 1992 he met his soon to be wife, Wendy, on a road trip to Vancouver, British Columbia. They married and now have two daughters and a mortgage. Quoting from his stand-up comedy act, "Having a mortgage is like being married to a bank, because if you think about it, it's a long term commitment, you have to promise to stay together through sickness and in health and if you break that commitment, it gets the house."

As an actor, Henry's career in the 'Hollywood North' market in recent years has been successful enough to land him more than 45 roles in movies and television. As a standup comedian, he maintains a substantial calendar of comedy club, corporate, and cruise ship engagements. As a facilitator, Henry conducts seminars on "How to use humour as a professional tool". He has a warm and intelligent persona, which makes him a welcome treat in virtually any venue.

He has done extensive research into the psychology and physiology of what arouses people to enjoy humour and at the same time laugh their way to better health. This research combined with 20 years of practical application makes him uniquely qualified to speak on the subject. This profound understanding and knowledge of what is arguably the world's happiest art form has earned him the distinctive recognition among his peers as the Comedy Professor.
